meet the animals

All of our animals have a story, and each animal is an important part of the farm. Mookie and Ethel, our gentle cows, bring a sense of calm with their easygoing nature and love for cuddles. Elmo, our Mini horse, charms everyone with his playful spirit and is always ready to delight young riders. Jersey, our sweet of the track Thoroughbred provides gentle, giant hugs and let's Mommy ride him around. The chickens provide fresh eggs daily and entertain with their quirky personalities, while the rabbit adds a touch of whimsy, hopping around with quiet curiosity. Our loyal dogs are the guardians of the farm, always ready to lend a paw, and the cats, with their independent yet affectionate ways, keep the barn cozy and free of pests. Together, they create a vibrant, harmonious community that makes the farm truly special.

Meet Mookie and Ethel

the rescued twins

Would you believe it if I told you they showed up to the farm hogtied in the back of a Subaru? Well, that's exactly how it happened. My husband (YES HIM NOT ME!) sent me a post of a wonderful woman named Paulette looking for homes for a few calves being sent to slaughter. He inquired and then had me follow up since my entire existence I have wanted a mini Jersey cow. And wouldn't you know sweet Paulette had one that desperately needed a home. Call it fate or the Universe, I said "OKAY! Let's do it." The girls and their Auntie TT named her Mookie, and the rest is history.

the day she was meant to arrive, I got a text. "So, her twin has been found, the farmer thought it ran off, do you want her? She'll be slaughtered if not." Well, how can I say no to her twin, and I can't let her die. So meet Ethel. Both girls were so excited and frolicked freely when they arrived. The reason they were being killed was for no other reason then they were excess cows and born strictly for their mother to make milk. They adjusted so sweetly. We had to bottle feed them for 4 months, 3 times a day. My husband would make the joke, "having kids is nothing compared to baby cows". The head butting alone was NOT glamorous and quite difficult, so much so our dear friend Randall made us wooden feeders for the bottles.

Both girls have been halter trained since they were little, and yes they both have hors due to my own naivety and ignorance. I thought for sure only bulls have horns, right? Wrong! Both girls have little spurs as I call them, and were in the process of getting silicon protectors for their adorable yet painful MOMMY FOOD head butts. They are sweet, gentle souls that love nothing more than belly scratches and nose kisses. They're scratchy little tongues will let you know that they appreciate being loved, and alive. Come visit, cuddle, kiss and feed Mookie and Ethel, or sponsor their meals! All help is deeply appreciated.

Meet Jersey and Elmo

our heart horses

Two separate stories lead to one beautiful family.

Jersey's story is one near and dear to my heart. Most of you know I was raised in a family that believes in hard work. Growing up, if I wanted to ride, I had to work off my lessons. That led to a desire and passion to always be around the horses. My trainer at the time decided to go to an auction. My parents (God love them) thought the horse she brought to the farm would be good for their 12 year old daughter. An off the track thoroughbred. While that was absolutely the wrong call for a little girl just learning her skill, it was also the best decision and one of the biggest life lessons I've ever had. Training Boz and working with him to become rideable was one of the most monumental experiences of my life. So naturally, when I was 8 months pregnant and came across "Promote" for sale as an exact lookalike of Boz and the same story (off the track thoroughbred sent to slaughter) I had to go get him.

The day Jersey showed up to the farm was the day we moved into this house. I was 9 months pregnant, moved a whole house, and was completely exhausted. Right when he showed up, I of course started having contractions and went to the hospital - but first, I had too give him food, make him comfy and put his brand new blankets on. We bonded hard that hour, he got me through some of the worst contractions I had that pregnancy! Turns out, they were braxton hicks from being dehydrated (duh, moving 9 months pregnant is not for the faint of heart!) Since then, he has literally been one of the best gifts of my life. He has provided comfort, love, and laughs to me and my whole family. My little girls love to love on his legs, groom him, and feed him. He is patient, docile, and kind. We have loved him from the moment we got him, and he will be here for forever with us. Come give him a hug, and this gentle giant will hug you back.

Elmo, on the other hand, is a big ole God wink story. Elmo is a retired driving horse and therapy pony. RANDOMLY my friend from back home sent me an advertisement of a lady rehoming her pony because her kids out grew him. Well, wouldn't you know I was already looking for a pony for Avery's third birthday, so this just felt like a sign. I reached out to her, and we both knew it felt right. He was up here in a week, with a BIG OLE purple bow around him, and it was the best surprise we have ever done. The girls ride Elmo every day they can. He gets spoiled with grooming, treats, and unconditional love and kisses. He is a sweet boy with a big ole heart and the only thing he does wonky is bite his big brother Jersey trying to assert his small dominance. He is gentle for small kids, and loves toting them around on his back. Come say hi, grab a ride if you're a little one, and feed him an apple (or 7).
